Pulmonary diseases are one of the most common causes responsible for high mortality and morbidity, including asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, restrictive lung diseases, airway infections, lung cancer, pleural cavity diseases, and pulmonary vascular diseases. Recent advances in bioinformatics have introduced new technologies to study the mechanisms, biomarkers and therapies for pulmonary diseases. Knowledge and understanding of these conditions have led to the development of animal models, successful therapies, and novel tools to characterize these clinical conditions and provide better care to patients. This series aims to publish original research articles and review articles that will stimulate the continuing efforts to understand the molecular pathology underlying pulmonary diseases, the development of strategies to treat these conditions, and the evaluation of outcomes.
