Child protection: A universal concern and a permanent challenge in the field of child and adolescent mental health
Edited by Joerg M. Fegert and Manuela Stoetzel
Child protection is a substantial issue for child and adolescent healthcare professionals and allied professions. In cooperation with the Independent Commissioner for Questions Related to Child Sexual Abuse of the German government and the ‘Dreilaender Institut’, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Mental Health publishes this special issue on child abuse and neglect. The series focuses on advances in research on child abuse and neglect in different settings and countries. Recommendations for future developments in this area on an international level, and especially for Germany and Canada, are provided. Even though research has much improved concerning prevalence rates of child abuse and neglect in recent years, there is still a tremendous need of research on prevention and intervention; especially from low- and middle-income countries. The Editorial Board of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Mental Health therefore invites interdisciplinary contributions on this important topic from researchers around the world.
